Cover the essentials: precise task definition, strategic context management (resetting sessions for new objectives), structured prompting and agent configuration, iterative refinement within clear boundaries, critical evaluation of outputs, and honest accounting of model limitations.
Deliver it through one-hour onboarding workshops. Supplement with practical exercises — show people the focused-task approach in action, side by side with the everything-bagel approach, and let the quality difference speak for itself. Stand up an internal mentorship program. Allocate protected time for experienced users to guide others. This isn’t optional overhead — it’s cheaper than another year of wasted subscriptions.
Measure what matters: time-to-valuable-output, quality scores on AI-assisted work, employee confidence, and growth in AI-augmented capabilities. Review and refine regularly. The technology moves fast; the curriculum should too.
The Path Forward
GenAI 1.0 taught us something most organizations missed: the bottleneck was never the model. It was always the human operating it.
That truth intensifies with agentic AI, where misunderstanding compounds at machine speed.
